The Smiths
The Smiths were a Manchester? jangly indie rock/pop? band, active from 1982? until their breakup in 1987?. Stylistically, the band combined a lithe, post-punk rhythm section with Johnny Marr's clean, sometimes acoustic guitar arpeggios and Morrissey's trademark wry lyrics and delivery.
