Indie Rock

Indie rock, originally short for independent rock and also described as underground rock is a nebulous classification for rock music which is largely associated with an "independent ethos", drawing on punk ? and exhibiting DIY ? tendencies. It is generally recognised to have roots in post-punk, and can be considered the sister genre and a source of innovation for alternative rock ?, and a foundation for the idea of "indie ?" as a musical movement.
